Hello! This past Saturday was the big event! It went extremely well, we ended up raising about six thousand dollars. This is extremely great because I had no idea that our fundraiser would have that much success. Now with all that said there was a lot of preparation we had to do the night before. On Friday we got a bunch of National Honor Society volunteers to come and help us out. The first major thing we had to do was move all of the dress racks out into the hallway and sort them down the line by size. After that we took our signs with numbers and numbered every door with a number so we knew what classroom was a dressing room.
The next day was the grand day of our event! We had to be at the school at 7:30 am so we could finish the last minute details before everyone arrived. We had to help set up the hospitality room full of food and then go out and meet for a prayer that was said by Paster Romozer from Brookville Road Community Church. After the prayer the day had begun and we opened the doors to hundreds of people eager to find dresses. All of our volunteers were assigned to a room and they were only in charge of that room. Macy, Lydia, and I were in charge of hanging up dresses in the correct places and making sure our "costumers" were satisfied. This day was very tiring, but it was very successful. You could say fun but painful and when I mean painful I mean hurting feet, but it was all worth it. When it came around to 2 o'clock and the rooms were empty we started to take down the event. We started by taking down all of the room numbers and putting them back to normal. After that , the volunteers and us took all the dress racks back to the dress storage room. All in all it was a great and successful day. We raised a lot of money and help a lot of girls out. We definitely put smiles on their faces and that is the best feeling ever. Thanks for listening guys! Rylie

Exciting things are coming up next week we are so close to the big day! We went into the school on Tuesday and went through all the dresses to make sure they were all hung up and color coded. After that we went into the wedding dress room and took those dresses and hung them up their size racks. Since we had snow days the last three days of the week we will go in on Monday and Wednesday next week to finish up everything. We still have to go through all the empty boxes and break them down and then after that we will take out all the shoe boxes and organize them by size. Lastly, on of the ladies who help coordinate the event will becoming in to take pictures of us in the dresses to help advertise our inventory. I can't wait till Saturday for the big event! Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Fingers crossed!
Rylie We are less than one month away from the BIG DAY! This past week we finally finished going through all the old dresses from last year, and now we have started to unbox the donation we received from Castleton and Chicago. After we finish unbox those boxes we have to hang them up with their sizes. Last week Macy and I went to Sophia's in Southport to pick up donations from their store. They also gave us a bunch of 20% of cards for us to hand to people as well which is amazing. So we still need to hang those dresses up as well. Then after all the dresses are hung up with their size we have to go back through and color coat all of the dresses. So obviously there is still a lot of work that needs to be done. Another thing I we have accomplished this month is we finished our event flyer and our donation flyer. I had to go through and make a couple changes to the flyers to make them perfect. here is the final product: As you can see we had to add so more information to the flyers so people who see them have all the insight they need for the event. Well we definitely have our work cut-out for us. So close to the big day! Talk to you later!
-Rylie This week was the start of preparation for the 12th annual Dress Drive. My partners Lydia Jones and Macy Miller, as well as myself, started going through all the information that went along from the great legacy project that has happened years before us. In the beginning of the month we went over to New Palestine Junior High where we met with Mrs. Pratt and other faculty to discuss this years plans for the Dress Drive. Some of the task she gave us to work on was a donation flyer, an announcement flyer, and thank you notes to the people that donate dresses to our drive. Here are some pictures of our flyers that I made with Adobe Photoshop. Now later in the week, we went back over to get the approval from Mrs. Pratt on our flyers and she loved them, but we only had to make a few changes on the information given in the flyers. After that was all sorted out we picked up our things and headed over to New Palestine Intermediate to go look at all the dresses. As we walked in the back rooms, an abundance of dresses were all over the room that needed to be sorted. So for the next couple of months Lydia, Macy and I will be in there sorting out every dress by size and color.
Lastly, today this afternoon we will be driving up to Castleton to pick up dress donations donated to us by Gretchen's Bridal. They donated 6 big boxes of all different colors of prom dresses all in different sizes. Hopefully I can keep you updated as much as possible on how everything is going but for right now all we are going to do is SORT SORT SORT. Can't wait to the big day! See you next time - Rylie |
